With the recent guilt verdict of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, a Hot Topic discussion was called to engage in dialogue to tackle the issues concerning policing in the BLACK community. Since the murder of George Floyd, there has been a number of BLACK men and women shot and killed by law enforcement. With the most recent shooting of Daunte Wright and Ma’Khia Bryant who was shot and killed hours after the verdict. Justified or unjustified, these police killings of BLACK people that are projected in the media are creating a state of fear and racial trauma. We have to address these issues in our community so that we as a people do not pass down this thought of white supremacy to our children. There is a battle for the heart of men and we have to be aware of the conditioning of the mind by the media repeating to display this form of control in our community.
